Parkinsonia aculeata family Fabaceae is highly reputed ayurvedic medicinal tree commonly known as the Ram Baval. It is a medium sized tree (4–6m), native to tropical America, extending from Mexico to South America. In India it is now completely naturalized in all dry regions, particularly western parts. The different parts of this plant contain number of Phytochemical like alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, steroids, saponins essential oils etc. Various parts of this plant such as leaves, roots, seed and bark, possess anti-malarial, anti-inflammatory, hypoglycemic, anti-amoebic, hepatoprotective and anti-spermatogenic activity.
